I am currently eating a delicious lunch. It is a brown rice tortilla with beans, melted cheese, carrots and avocados. SO YUMMY!

I want to thank all of you that sent me comments and emails regarding my last post on going vegetarian while being gluten free. Also, for those of you that also had questions about it with me, I found an amazing resource!

I was on Facebook today and I searched "Gluten Free Vegetarian" in the groups and VEGIAC came up. I suggest that you do the same if you are also a GF Vegetarian! They also have a website, here! It is a forum that is filled with information!

Today Marks A New Day

Today is the day that I become a gluten free vegetarian. Why? Well, for several reasons....
  1. Gluten free? I have Celiacs. I don't really see that as a choice.
  2. Vegetarian? I have a plethora of reasons. I was a vegetarian for years as a teen but I developed a protein deficiency because I did not fancy the foods my body needed to do it properly. I was also a vegan for around 4-6 months too then. I loved my time as a vegetarian. I was a vegetarian for animal rights, I would always say that I couldn't eat anything with a mother or with a face.
I gave up red meat in September but that was not enough. A few months ago I saw this teen hit his dog when I was walking with my boyfriend. It upset me so much that I felt ill. Animal cruelty in any form really upsets me. I thought to myself that I would go vegetarian once I could figure out how to do it well with the whole gluten free aspect.

Then last week I was driving home late at night with my son and I accidentally ran over a bunny (yes, was just as traumatic as years ago when it happened to the both of us) and I cried all the way home. Even though I tried to avoid hitting the rabbit it was awful. I knew people that had rabbits so I would play with them so I know how loving rabbits can be. I just couldn't eat meat anymore after that.

There are many health benefits too when you are a vegetarian...

I am not trying go get anyone to join me. That is not why I am writing this. I am just writing this down so I remember my anniversary of going back.

How does this change GLUTEN FREE GLUTTONY?
  1. It really does not!
  2. I will still review products! Just not ones with meat.
  3. I will give meat recipes I just cant vouch for if it is good or not.
  4. We are all on this gluten free journey together and we are here for each other!
  5. If you are a gluten free vegetarian, do you know of any fake meat that does not contain wheat? I am having the hardest time finding good fake meat!

Cupcake Pebbles! OMG!

I received an email asking me if the new Cupcake Pebbles cereal was gluten free the other day. When I saw the words cupcake and Pebbles in the same sentence, I almost squealed with delight! I got on the Post Cereals Website and checked out the ingredients. Everything looked gluten free, just like my favorite gluten free cereal, Fruity Pebbles! I quickly responded to the emailer (thank you by the way for letting me know about this) and I couldn't wait to see if my local store carried this!

I went to the store yesterday to look for this brand spankin new cereal. When I found the box I got super excited! I ended up eating this for dinner!

The Review:

You all know I adore cupcakes! So, do these actually taste like cupcakes? Yeah they do! These taste like cupcakes mixed with Rice Crispy cereal. These are very tasty, however, I am not sure if these will become my favorite cereal. I think that I need to eat more to find out if it can dethrone Fruity Pebbles!

An Open Letter to Sprinkles Cupcakes from A Gluten Free Foodie!

Dear Sprinkles Cupcakes,

Thank you for making a gluten free option! When I heard that you carried red velvet cupcakes, I started to salivate. When a person is gluten free, simple pleasures like picking up a dozen cupcakes at a local bakery becomes a big deal. You are helping me regain some normalcy and that is priceless. Not to mention, that you are the creme de' la creme of cupcakes...and I would know, I am a self confessed cupcake addict. Your cream cheese frosting was the best I have ever had. I do not know how I will tell myself that these are to be reserved as "special treats".

As a member of the gluten free community, I applaud you for meeting our high standards! I was so pleased to see the cupcakes were not in the same case as the other cupcakes and they packaged them separately for me. I just hope that one day you expand your gluten free cupcake flavors so I can try more of your amazing tastes.

Lip Smacker 100% Natural Line (and gluten free!)

If you will remember back to one of my previous posts about Lip Smackers, I was outraged that they used wheat as an ingredient because I couldn't use it! I loved Lip Smackers when I was a kid and a teen and then Celiacs happened...leaving my lips Lip Smacker free.

I know that our voices and pleas were heard because Bonne Bell Inc, the makers of Lip Smackers has a new line of all natural Lip Smackers that are Gluten Free! I am so happy and overcome with joy! The line has great kissable flavors: Vanilla Bean, Pink Guava, Acai Berry, and Honeydew Melon! Thank you Lip Smackers, you no longer deserve a smack on the lips but a great big smooch!

Alexia Crunchy Snacks: Waffle Fries

I had movie night with my friend Rachel tonight and I have to say it was a success...well almost successful. You see, I purchased these waffle fries at the store today expecting spectacular snacking goodness and I was pretty let down.

I had my movies laid out on the table, M&M's in a bowl and I opened the bag of chips and put them in a serving bowl. I decided to try one before my guest arrived just in case it was awful. I didn't like it at first taste so I tried another hoping it was just a funky chip...yeah, second chip also was crappy. I decided to put all the chips back in the bag, these were NOT WORTHY of my guest.

However, when Rachel did arrive, I told her of these awful chips and she said she wanted to try them! She did and she liked them! What? Huh? How is that possible? I think I just have high standards now as a food blogger! I stand by my gazillion tastes...yes, that is right...I kept trying it over and over again to see if I would change my mind but I didn't. I found these to be down right disgusting.

My mother even tried them and she fancied these too. So, now I leave you with a call to try them and tell me what you think! Do you like them? Have you tried them?

Kitchen Myths

This isn't directly gluten free but it does deal with cooking. It is a cool website that I wanted to share with you! Kitchen Myths, is just that, it is a website that goes into kitchen myths and tells you if they are fact or fiction. This site helps with general cooking and there is also a recipes link on the top. Happy myth busting!

This sandwich made me drool...

Let me introduce you to my sandwich. Meet my tuna salad on Udi's Whole Grain bread. So yummy I drooled. Then I had to refrain from having seconds. Lunch today...gone in 2.5 seconds!

Have you tried Udi's bread? It doesn't need a freezer! I LOVE it. This was the best gluten free sandwich ever!
